We know early years isn’t just a job, it’s a vocation, a craft, and a privilege. This academy is here to celebrate that. To support you. And to help you stay curious, connected, and proud of the difference you make.

Because here at The Nest, we know:
Little things become big things.

1
Child Centred Practice

Every child, at the heart of all we do.

We see the world through the child’s eyes. This standard champions attuned, respectful, and joyful interactions that place each child’s needs, interests, and individuality at the centre of our practice. It's about slowing down, being present, and letting children lead the way.

Every child, at the heart of all we do.
2
Reflective and Intentional Practice

Think deeply. Act wisely.

Great practice doesn’t happen by accident. This standard supports thoughtful, curious professionals who reflect on their experiences, use evidence to guide decisions, and make choices with care and clarity. It's about pausing to ask "why?" and growing with purpose.

Think deeply. Act wisely.
3
Professional Knowledge and Pedagogy

Grounded in theory, growing through practice.

Early years is a profession — and our knowledge matters. This standard promotes strong pedagogical understanding, a commitment to continuous learning, and confidence in connecting theory to practice. It’s where research, experience, and wonder come together.

Grounded in theory, growing through practice.
4
Relationships and Communication

Connection is our curriculum.

Relationships are everything. This standard celebrates the way we listen, speak, and connect with children, families, and each other. It's about trust, empathy, co-regulation, and communication that’s kind, clear, and rooted in respect.

Connection is our curriculum.
5
Leadership and Teamwork

Stronger together.

Leadership isn’t just a title — it’s a mindset. This standard values collaboration, shared purpose, and the ability to inspire and uplift those around you. Whether you're leading a room or supporting a colleague, you make a difference.

Stronger together.
6
Values-Driven Professionalism

Practice with pride and purpose.

At The Nest, who you are matters just as much as what you do. This standard celebrates integrity, enthusiasm, consistency, and the values that shape your daily decisions. It’s about being proud of your work — and the way you do it.

Practice with pride and purpose.

Shared Success, Collective Pride

At The Nest Nursery, we don’t set out to win awards - we set out to change lives. But when our values, vision, and everyday excellence are recognised, it’s something we treasure deeply.

Each award is a reflection of the whole team: the passion, playfulness, and professionalism poured into every moment with our children and families. This is shared success. This is collective pride.

About

We're Lyndsey & Christian,
Founders of The Nest Nursery

We founded The Nest Nursery in 2009. Lyndsey had worked as a primary school teacher for many years and had always dreamt of having her own setting and now we have four!

Our company is family-run and built on strong values. We all work hard in our settings to create homely, unique places where all children thrive.

We are exceptionally lucky to have a strong staff team lead by Danielle, Rebecca, Michaela, Eszter, and Halleema.

You'll notice our environments are different and that is based on many years of research by Lyndsey and the team, visiting early years settings across the world. We prepare our environments daily for the wonderful miracles that enter each day!
